Tarragona Cruise Port and MSC Cruises held a training day for the students of the Escola d’Hoteleria i Turisme de Cambrils, with the aim of bringing them closer to the real operation of a cruise ship and showcasing the many professional opportunities offered by this rapidly growing tourism sector.”
The activity took place mainly on board MSC Splendida, where the students were able to gain first-hand insight into the company’s business model, the organization of its various departments, and the professional profiles involved in the passenger experience. In addition, the day included a visit to the Tarragona Cruise Port terminal, allowing participants to understand the essential role that port infrastructure plays in cruise operations and in managing passenger flows. To conclude, the students had lunch on board MSC Splendida and were able to enjoy the ship’s gastronomy offered by MSC Cruises.”
In total, 51 students from the higher vocational training programs in Travel Agencies and Event Management, Tourist Guide, Information and Assistance, and Tourist Accommodation Management participated, accompanied by six teachers from the school.
During the visit, the students had the opportunity to explore the different areas of MSC Splendida both public and crew-only, learn about customer service, catering, accommodation, and entertainment procedures, as well as the logistical and coordination processes that make the cruise experience possible. Key topics such as sustainability, technological innovation, and the training of international teams were also addressed.
“This experience has been a unique opportunity for our students to discover the real operation of the cruise sector and understand the wide range of profiles and skills it requires. Being able to do so on board a ship and at a fully operational terminal greatly enriches their learning,” highlighted the management of the Escola d’Hoteleria i Turisme de Cambrils.
