Tarragona Featured in the New York Times
The prestigious newspaper The New York Times has published a list of the 52 best cities to travel to in 2023 and has chosen Tarragona as one of the best places in the world. The American newspaper places the capital of Tarragona in position number 31, highlighting its tourist and gastronomic attractions.
The main argument of the prestigious newspaper to recommend Tarragona is its Roman legacy, a World Heritage site. It affirms that “it is one of the oldest Roman settlements in the Iberian Peninsula. The impressive ruins of Tarraco, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, transform the city into an open-air museum, from the powerful Roman walls to the amphitheater framed by the Mediterranean.”
In Europe, there are only 16 destinations on the list, including Tarragona—ranked ahead of Madrid, which appears at number 44. News like this supports the commitment of Global Ports Holding to manage the cruise terminal in Tarragona. Its strategic location in the Mediterranean, just one hour south of Barcelona Airport, and the wide range of excursions that can be offered from this port make it especially attractive. The terminal is currently under construction and will be operational in the first quarter of 2024.
