Wine is one of the most recognizable symbols of Mediterranean culture as well as an asset that identifies the city and province of Tarragona, a vast area covered with vineyards and creating one-of-a-kind products.

If you would like to buy wine from the area, ask for one of these designations of origin: Priorat (qualified designation of origin), Tarragona, Montsant, Conca de Barberà or Penedès.

Priorat is the only Designation of Origin qualified in Catalonia and one of the two that Spain has with this seal. To obtain it, at least ten years must have elapsed since its recognition as a Designation of Origin, it has very exhaustive quality control and all bottled wine is marketed.

The DO Cava is also an area of special interest, located mainly in the Penedès region. This DO is specialized in the production of exquisite sparkling wines.

Vermouth

The Vermut de Reus brand is synonymous with quality and is known far beyond the municipality. To the historical brands, which still continue their production activity started at the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th, new ones have been added encouraged by the boom in the consumption of the drink.

Vermouth is a liquor whose exact formula is a true secret. It is a mixture of hundreds of aromatic plants, which makes each vermouth different.

The tradition of going for a vermouth and sharing moments of leisure and conversation with family and friends is highly appreciated by the locals.

Olive oil

One of the pillars of gastronomy is olive oil, which in the territory of the Costa Daurada has the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Siurana, made mainly with the Arbequina variety.

Where to Buy

In Tarragona there is local commerce in the city centre and old city, where you will find souvenirs as well.

There are two shopping malls, called El Corte Inglés and Parc Central, with F&B area, as well as several local and international brand shops.

Remember that, in each port, you have a Guest Information Center where you can ask the staff for any advice related to which brands offers a better product.
