Tarragona Cruise Port expands its retail offering with new Flemingo Duty Free store.
Tarragona Cruise Port, operated by Global Ports Holding (GPH), today celebrates the opening of a new Flemingo Duty Free store, marking a new milestone in the development of the terminal’s retail offering and further enhancing the experience of passengers visiting Tarragona and the Costa Daurada.
The store has been launched through JVFA Spain Travel Retail, a joint venture between Flemingo Duty Free and Altimex S.L. established to develop and manage retail spaces at cruise terminals across Spain.
Located within the modern Tarragona Cruise Port terminal, the new 130 sqm store has been designed to offer cruise passengers an attractive and carefully curated shopping experience, combining internationally recognised brands with a selection of locally inspired products that showcase the flavours, culture and traditions of Tarragona and the surrounding region.
The store offers a wide range of international Travel Retail categories, including spirits, wines, tobacco, fragrances, cosmetics, confectionery, fashion accessories and souvenirs. Alongside these products, passengers will also find a selection of local and regional specialities, including olive oils, vermouths, wines, nougat and other delicacies produced by local suppliers.
This combination of international brands and destination-inspired products aims to bring the identity of Tarragona and the Costa Daurada closer to cruise passengers from around the world, offering them the opportunity to discover and take home a taste of the region as part of their Mediterranean journey.
The opening of the store is part of a wider partnership between Global Ports Holding and Flemingo Duty Free to develop and operate retail spaces across selected cruise terminals within the GPH network. Tarragona Cruise Port is the first location in Spain to welcome this new retail concept, with the partnership set to continue through the opening of additional stores at the cruise terminals of Alicante, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Each location will feature a retail offer tailored to the characteristics and identity of its destination, incorporating local products alongside the main Travel Retail categories.
The new store further strengthens Tarragona Cruise Port’s commitment to providing a high-quality and comprehensive experience for cruise passengers, while supporting the promotion of local products and the region’s identity among an increasingly international audience.
The opening also represents a further step in the ongoing development of Tarragona Cruise Port as a modern gateway to the destination. Designed as a welcoming and sustainable facility, the terminal connects cruise passengers with Tarragona and the Costa Daurada from the moment they arrive, offering a seamless and high-quality experience throughout their visit.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. P.K. Thimmayya, CEO MEA & Europe said “The opening of our first store at Tarragona Cruise Port marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Flemingo and our partnership with Global Ports Holding. Tarragona is the ideal starting point for this venture, bringing together a world class port, a rapidly growing cruise market, and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional retail experiences. As we expand across the Global Ports Holding network, we look forward to creating destination inspired stores that combine global brands, local character, and exceptional customer service.”
Alba Colet, General Manager of Tarragona Cruise Port, said: “We are delighted to welcome this new retail concept to Tarragona Cruise Port and to see the result of the strong collaboration between Global Ports Holding, Flemingo Duty Free and all the teams involved in bringing this project to life. This new store adds an important dimension to the passenger experience, combining the best of travel retail with a selection of local products that allows our visitors to discover and take home a taste of Tarragona and the Costa Daurada. It is also a great example of how collaboration within the GPH network can bring new opportunities to our terminals and contribute to the continued development of Tarragona as an international cruise destination.”
