The World’s Largest Cruise Ship Calls at the Port of Tarragona
Legend of the Seas has made a technical stop at the Balears Wharf at Tarragona Cruise Port.
Legend of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s newest cruise ship, has called at Tarragona Cruise Port. Although the visit was a brief three-hour technical stop at the Balears Wharf, it was enough time to officially welcome this state-of-the-art vessel to Tarragona with a traditional water salute performed by the tugboat Cambrils.
The Legend of the Seas is currently on its inaugural voyage, which began at Málaga Cruise Port. Málaga is one of the destinations included in the ship’s regular Western Mediterranean itineraries this summer, sailing from Barcelona and Rome, before heading to the Caribbean, where it will be homeported in Fort Lauderdale for the winter season.
Legend of the Seas is the third ship in Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class, following Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas. Built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the vessel measures 365 metres in length, making it one of the largest cruise ships ever built.
The ship has a gross tonnage of 250,800 and features 2,805 staterooms spread across 20 decks, 18 of which are accessible to guests. At double occupancy, Legend of the Seas accommodates 5,610 passengers, while its maximum capacity reaches 7,600 guests. Around 2,350 crew members work on board and are accommodated in a dedicated four-deck crew area featuring newly designed cabins created specifically for their comfort and wellbeing.
